Samuel Hamer (1735 – 26 December 1797) was an English mathematician and historian of mathematics. He also served as a priest in the Church of England.
Hamer was the third son of John Hamer and Elizabeth (née Swetman), and was born at Pontefract, Yorkshire. He was educated at a school in Halifax and Eton, and at the University of Cambridge, where he graduated LL.B.
He was the author of several publications, including the History and Antiquities of Pontefract (1777), the History of the University of Cambridge (1785), A Mathematical Description of the Great Barrier of Cadiz (1787), A Treatise on Arithmetical Geometry (1790) and A Treatise on Commercial Arithmetic (1792).
